          ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስቲያን ኤርትራ ናይ ገዛእ ርእሳ ፍሉይ ናይ ዘመን ኣቆጻጽራን ፥ ፊደላትን ዘለዋ ወናኒት ሃብታም ታሪኽ ምዃና ዝምስክሩ ጥንታውያን ገዳማት (ከም ብዓል ደብረ ቢዘን) ኣለው። እዘን ገደማት ፥ እዚኣተን ብዙሓት ቅርስታትን፥ ብብራና ዝተጻሕፉ ጽሑፋትን ዓቂበን ዝጸንሓ ታሪኽ ቤተክርስቲያን ይምህራን የዘንትዋን ኣለዋ። በዙሓት ጳጳሳት፥ መነኮስት፥ ድያቆናት: መዘምራን ከፈርያ ዝተኻእለ ብሓልዮት ናይ ኤርትራ ኦርተዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስቲያን እዩ። ኣብ ታሪኽ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ድማ መንፈሳዊን፥ ባህላዊን፥ ማሕበራዊን፥ ቁጠባዊን፥ ሥነ ፍልጠታውን ዝኣመሰሉ ሃብታማት ኣበርክቶታት ሰፋሕቲ ተሳትፎታት ዘጸንሓትን ሕጂወን ንህዝባ ብኹሉ መዳያት እትመርሕን እተበርክትን ዘላ እያ ።

          ናይ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስቲያን ኤርትራ ምስ ካልኦት ሃይማኖታት ኤርትራ ብዘይ ግጭትን: ብሓባራዊ ምትሕብባርን እትነብር ዘላ ኣደ እምነትያ።

          ደብረ ሳህል ናይ ኢርትራ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስቲያን ከተማ ዊኒፕግ ድማ መምርሒ ናይ ኤርትራ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋህዶ ቤተክርስቲያን እትኽተልን ዓቢ ኣኽብሮት እትህቦን ኮይና ብ2004 ዓ.ም. ብውሕዳት ግዱሳት ሰባት ተጸኒሳ ሎሚ ልዕሊ 500 ምእመናን እተገልግል ዘላ እያ። ኣብ’ዚ እዋን’ዚ ቤተክርስቲያና ብልዑል ጻዕርን ተወፋይነትን ናይ ምእመናን ናይ ገዛእ ርእሳ ህንጻ ቤተክርስቲያን ካብ ትውንን እንሆ ዓሰርተ ዓመታት ኣቑጺራ ትርከብ። ሕጂውን እንተኾነ ብዝሒ ተሳተፍቲ እናወሰኸ ብምኻዱ ነተ ዘለዋ ቤተክርስቲያን ናይ ምስፋሕ ውጥን ኣለዋ።

Short History Of The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church

          The Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church in Eritrea is the first and oldest continuing Christian church established in 333 A.D. (Wikpedia) with its origins in the Alexandrian Apostolic times. The Tewahdo Church, like many other Orthodox churches, can be classed a member of the Oriental Orthodox community that diverged from Byzantine and Roman traditions after the Council of Chalcedon.

          Tewahdo church has many monasteries (such as Debre Bizen) and numerous churches throughout Eritrea. The church is rich in history and has countless manuscripts to prove its contribution to the spiritual, cultural, social, economic and educational aspects of life of the people of Eritrea. The church has been instrumental in educating, inspiring, bishops, hermits, priests, deacons and its followers. It teaches Christianity and lives in peace with the rest of the religions in Eritrea.

          Tewahdo Orthodox church retains a large presence in modern Eritrea and at present is being revitalized in the Diaspora. Debre Sahl St. Michael’s Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church in Winnipeg is one of the newly organized and incorporated parishes. The Church was founded in 2004 with a small number of men and women of Eritrean decent. At present the church is serving over 500 parishioners’ and continues to grow.

          At this moment Debre Sahl St. Michael Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo church has with great deal of effort and dedication from its congregation, succeeded to possess its our church building. In fact, the church is now in the planning stages to expand as the number of its new members is constantly increasing.
